20 for-hire trucking companies in the US or Canada bear honorable distinction
Defiance, OH: While marking its 40th year since incorporation, Keller Trucking has been awarded the distinction of one of the 2018 Best Fleets to Drive For. This annual award is produced by CarriersEdge, in partnership with Truckload Carriers Association (TCA).
Best Fleets to Drive For began in 2008 and is a program which identifies trends, shares best practices, and publicly recognizes the for-hire carriers providing the best workplaces for their drivers. This award is open to any for-hire trucking company operating 10 trucks or more in the US or Canada – fleets do not have to be members of TCA and there is no cost to participate. To be considered, the fleet must be nominated by a driver or independent contractor currently working for them, then complete the evaluation process.
The qualification process takes an in-depth look at the operations to provide exemplary customer service. The evaluation process has four stages that review and analyze the operations, programs offered to drivers, driver retention program statistics along with safety performance. There is also additional scoring on the customer service team and dispatchers. Jon Wolfrum, Director of Operations for Keller Trucking stated,
“Being able to call ourselves one of The Best Fleets to Drive For has been a goal of my team for some time now. Not only will this award assist us with recruiting and retaining professional drivers to ensure capacity for our customers, it also shows our customers that we care about our drivers and all those on the Keller Trucking team. The application process for Best Fleets to Drive For encompasses an internal audit of our operations, which directly affects the customer experience. Drivers, fleet managers, and account managers who are happy with their employer are more likely to provide excellent customer service. And that’s what we’re about here at Keller, Responsive People using Resourceful Thinking to provide Flexible Solutions to our customers.”
Driver surveys keep the fleets honest about the policies and programs that are offered to the drivers along with asking questions about the company culture. Keller Trucking driver Eric Frost commented on the survey-
“I feel this way because they (Keller) show in more ways than one that they truly care for their drivers. The money is great, the miles are endless, it’s a family atmosphere. The equipment they provide for their drivers is among the best in the industry, when the CEO of the company says he’s going to do something, he does it. He doesn’t just blow smoke up your tail. I can honestly say this will be the last company I will ever drive for.”
The press release announcing the winners quoted TCA President John Lybolt as saying,
“It’s not easy to be named one of the Best Fleets to Drive For… It simultaneously requires commitment to an individual carrier’s operations and a vision for the future of the industry as a whole.”
